Does First Nations University of Canada student insurance cover counselling?
Probably yes, if you are enrolled in the University of Regina student plan. Your plan reimburses up to $120 of each $150 session, up to $500 a year, so your cost is about $30 per session for roughly your first 4 sessions.

*Rates reflect our $150 discounted student rate. “Your cost” is what is left after your plan pays its share; you would normally pay the $150 at the session and claim the plan’s share back. Coverage details are a general guide, so please confirm exact amounts with your plan.

Common questions
Do I need a referral for counselling under the First Nations University of Canada plan?
The plan page we checked does not list a referral for counselling. Plans change, so confirm with your plan provider (Alumo) before your first session. These are the University of Regina plan's figures, so also confirm with the plan office that your college is covered.
Will my family or my school know I am in counselling?
Sessions are confidential, within the limits of the law and professional standards. Sarah does not share what you talk about with your family or your school without your consent, except where she is required to for safety or by law. A claim shows your plan provider the date, the type of service and the amount, as with any health claim, but not what you talked about.
Who can book sessions with Sarah?
Sarah sees people who are located in Ontario, Alberta or Saskatchewan at the time of the session, online by video or phone. Sessions are 50 minutes, with 80 minutes available.
What if I have opted out of the plan, or my plan pays less than I expected?
Students can pay the $150 student rate directly. Book the free 15-minute call and we will talk through the options. If you are not sure whether you are enrolled, check with your students' union or plan provider.
