Frequently asked questions

1. Getting Started With Therapy

  • I provide individual, couples, premarital, and spiritual counselling. Our work is rooted in the needs of Muslim women and families, guided by Islamic values of compassion (rahmah), sincerity (ikhlas), and balance (mīzān). Every service is tailored to your unique emotional, relational, and spiritual goals.

  • If you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or simply want to strengthen your faith and wellbeing, therapy can help. Many clients come not only during hardship, but also to deepen their self-awareness and align their lives more closely with the values taught in our religion

  • You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation here , or contact me directly via phone or email. This first step is a safe space to ask questions and see if we’re the right fit for you.

2) Services & Approach

  • My therapy blends Islamic wisdom from the Qur’an and Sunnah with evidence-based practices like CBT and mindfulness. This ensures care that is culturally sensitive, rooted in faith, and focused on lasting growth. My goal is to help you not only manage challenges, but also strengthen your īmān (faith) and resilience

  • Every session is guided by your needs. We’ll explore your challenges, reflect on how Islamic principles can offer perspective (such as patience, gratitude, and reliance on Allah), and use practical tools from psychology to support healing and balance

  • I offer sessions on a secure online platform, so you can connect with us from anywhere. Each session is confidential, private, and scheduled at a time that works best for you.

  • Your first session is a welcoming space to share your concerns and goals. Together, we’ll reflect on your challenges and discuss a personalized plan that combines faith-based guidance and evidence-based care to support your healing.

  • Yes. I’ve worked as the school counsellor at Al Huda Elementary for the past two years, which gave me valuable experience supporting children through academic, social, and emotional challenges. I use that insight to create a safe, faith-based space for kids and to guide parents with practical tools

3) Fees & Insurance

  • My stand rates are $150 CAD for individual sessions, and $175 CAD for premarital/marital sessions

  • Many extended health insurance plans cover counselling services. If your plan is eligible, we’ll bill your provider directly. If not, we can provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.

  • Yes — we provide direct billing for most major insurance companies. This means you don’t have to pay out-of-pocket and wait for reimbursement. We take care of the paperwork so you can focus fully on your healing.

  • Yes, I offer limited sliding-scale options for clients who may need financial flexibility. Islam places great emphasis on ease and removing hardship, and we strive to reflect this in our work.

  • I ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

4) Progress & Outcomes

  • The length of therapy depends on your goals. Some clients need just a few sessions to gain clarity, while others benefit from ongoing support. Like growth in īmān, therapy is a journey — we walk beside you at a pace that feels right

  • Signs may include feeling calmer, responding to challenges with more patience, and noticing positive changes in your relationships. Together, we’ll reflect on your progress and celebrate growth, no matter how small.

  • Therapy is not a crisis service. If you are ever in immediate danger, please call 911 (or your local emergency number). For spiritual grounding, we may also recommend Islamic practices like duʿāʾ and dhikr alongside professional support.
